Looking to take a gap year? The WashU Medicine Clinical Research Training Center (CRTC) is seeking eager and research-oriented post baccalaureates to join their two-year Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolic Diseases.
This program is designed for individuals looking to enhance their research skills prior to pursuing graduate-level education, offering two full years of paid, mentored research.

How this program can transform your research career:
- Deepen your knowledge in diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolic diseases (DEM) through didactic coursework, seminars, and mentor-supported research education
- Build a network of support for career advancement
- Access funding to attend one DEM-focused conference during your appointment
- Publish research findings as part of an independent research program
- Receive comprehensive guidance throughout the graduate school application process, including MCAT test preparation
- Elevate your leadership skills as a near-peer mentor for undergraduate scholars interested in a future medical career
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science from an accredited U.S. college or university by appointment start date
- Have graduated no more than 24 months prior to the start of the program
- Not be enrolled in a degree program by appointment start date
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (WashU will not sponsor work visas for this program)
- Participate in the program on a full-time, in-person basis and pursue their research training at 75% throughout the duration of the program
