Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is pleased to announce the 2024 Katz and Manne Research Institute Summer Scholars Program. The program is designed to provide undergraduates with summer experiences in research related to childhood health and disease. Through the ongoing generosity of the Robert Louis Katz Medical Research Foundation and Manne Research Institute, we are offering competitive paid summer research opportunities with Manne Research Institute investigators located on the Streeterville biomedical campus neighborhood in the heart of beautiful Chicago.
The program’s mission is to nurture early exposure to top-tier scientific inquiry and amplify interest in scientific careers, with a primary focus on advancing children's health and welfare. The program aims to provide undergraduate students with equitable access to research opportunities by prioritizing qualified students for whom this may be especially challenging, thereby fostering diversity in the scientific community.
Summer scholars spend eight weeks working daily with their faculty mentor and their research team to learn about conducting scientific research and gain hands-on research experience. They also participate in a weekly seminar led by various participating faculty members and research educators who teach the summer scholars how to prepare scientific poster presentations and provide guidance about career development.
Interested students should review our program FAQs and this year’s course offerings and faculty mentors, with a sampling of projects from their research teams. Applications for summer 2024 are now open.
Note: Please be sure to complete the application in its entirety. Incomplete applications will not be considered for the program.
