Research opportunity in pneumonia/lung injury for students interested in biomedical research

A research position is available in the Kulkarni Lab in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine on the WashU Medical Center campus.

A position is available in the Kulkarni Lab in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine on the Medical Center campus. The lab works with human tissues, mouse models, and also cell culture systems. Those interested in learning new techniques, problem-solving, and working with new technology are encouraged to apply. The expected time commitment is a minimum of either three half-days per week, or one full day and one half day (approximately 10 hours/week). This is an excellent opportunity for students who are interested in immersing themselves in biomedical research (primarily wet-lab) with the plan of applying to medical school or graduate school, and for someone looking for a long-term position that spans over semesters and into summer; and/or if you are interested in taking a gap year for research after your undergraduate degree. Lab work can be done for credit, as a part of Bio200/500 or other programs (e.g., BioSURF, ASPIRE).

Interested applicants should email Hrish Kulkarni, MD, MSCI, at hkulkarn@wustl.edu and include the following:

  • CV
  • Brief statement about why you are interested in working in our laboratory
  • Prior research experience (if applicable)
  • Period of time you can commit to during the semesters in the context of your other commitments
  • Whether you plan to work in the lab during Summer 2023

All applications will be considered. Students will be encouraged to present their work at the undergraduate research symposium and apply for opportunities which align with overall goals.
